Why Tyre Safety Matters
Every braking, steering and accelerating input passes through four palm-sized patches of rubber. Worn or under-inflated tyres dramatically reduce grip — especially in the wet.
Tyre Safety Basics
- Tread depth: legal minimum is 1 mm, but performance drops below 3 mm
- Pressure: check monthly, when cold, to the door sticker spec
- Alignment: have it checked every 10,000–15,000 km
- Rotation: front and rear wear differently — rotate as recommended
- Age: tyres older than 6 years should be inspected closely regardless of tread
Common Mistakes
- Only checking pressure when a tyre looks flat
- Mixing tyre brands or sizes across an axle
- Ignoring uneven wear patterns — they signal alignment or suspension issues
- Driving on a spare for too long
Vanderbijlpark Road Conditions
Potholes, hot tar in summer and the occasional flooded street all stress tyres in different ways. Regular inspection matters.
How Vehix Helps
We fit, balance and align tyres, check pressures at every service, and advise honestly on when it's time to replace.
When to Replace
- Tread below 3 mm
- Visible cracks, cuts or bulges
- Uneven wear patterns
- Older than 6 years
Responsible Disposal
Old tyres should never be burned or dumped — we send used tyres to accredited recyclers.
